About Workshop

VALUE is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the national mission on education through ICT. VALUE comprises of 23 labs based on graduate (BSc, Btech, BE)and postgraduate(Msc , Mtech, ME) curriculum in biotechnology and biomedical engineering including neuroscience, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, computer aided drug designing, biological image analysis and bioinformatics.


There are over 230 experiments in VALUE which is an interactive next generation textbook .This workshop is intended for all educators who wants to experience an improved teaching environment and

  • To educate on the ethical practices to be followed in a lab environment
  • To improve student performance through user- friendly simulations, and demonstrative videos
  • To motivate and improve student experience during lab sessions
  • To allow students to learn from interactive animations and reduce content preparation time
  • To reduce examination stress in students
  • Are motivated to incorporate virtualized experiments as a teaching tool

  • Mission & Vision of virtual labs:Dr Bipin Nair, Dean and discipline wise national coordinator for biotechnology virtual labs, Amrita School of Biotechnology and Dr Krishnashree Achuthan, Principal investigator, VALUE virtual labs

  • Hands –on –session
  • Connecting Teachers to students:Virtual lab LMS (Learning Management System) system
  • Concluding session: Application, studies and goals of using virtual labs in education

Registration fee will be covered by the organizers. If you are interested in attending, please contact us with your name, designation, institution, address-home/office, contact no, email, courses taught by you in your institute and mention on previous experience with other ICT enabled technologies through email virtual_labs@ amrita.edu .


An institution can allow two faculty members to participate in this workshop. If there are more, please contact us through email or phone.

The total number of participants will be limited, and registration may close early if the event is full. Registering for the conference is not required to participate in this workshop.

This program is funded by MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development ).Every participant will be awarded certificate of participation and will also be included in our reports to MHRD.


Travel

Nominal TA (second class sleeper fare) will be provided to all the attendees on submission of proof of travel. Local transport will be arranged from nearby railway station and bus stand at 8:15 am to the venue of workshop on 14 August 2013. If you are arriving earlier please contact us through email or phone.
